What is it?
SUSTAIN is a carbohydrate and electrolyte drink, with a light natural flavour, for fuelling and hydration during prolonged exercise. SUSTAIN makes use of multiple transportable carbohydrates in a 1:0.8 ratio of maltodextrin to fructose shown to provide the ultimate carbohydrate uptake during high intensity endurance exercise, whilst minimising gastrointestinal distress. (1).
We have also put a lot of effort into tuning our lemon and lime flavour which we think makes SUSTAIN one of the best tasting natural fuelling drinks on the market!
SUSTAIN makes use of an unusual dual source carbohydrate ratio of 1:0.8 maltodextrin to fructose rather than the more commonly available 2:1 ratio. This ratio allows the athlete to use 17% more of the carbohydrate ingested. (1). The same study goes on to find a cycling mean sprint power increase of 3% compared to the 2:1 ratio together with reduced symptoms of stomach fullness and nausea.
We launched SUSTAIN with the 1:0.8 ratio of maltodextrin to fructose in early 2020, over a year ahead of any other UK sports nutrition company, helping to keep our customers ahead of the crowd.
What's in it?
SUSTAIN is a mix of multiple transportable carbohydrates and electrolytes. SUSTAIN has been formulated using the latest considered optimum combination of 1:0.8 ratio of maltodextrin to fructose to provide you with the ultimate delivery of carbohydrate, during prolonged exercise, whilst remaining easy on the stomach (1).
SUSTAIN also includes sodium (480mg per 65.5g serving), sourced from salt and sodium citrate as well as specific inclusions of potassium, calcium and magnesium. Electrolytes are of vital importance before, during and after high intensity endurance activity due to their role in retaining water but most importantly, maintaining muscular contraction and thus exercise performance (2).
